Attitudes for Athletes

Attitudes for Athletes focus is on school athletics , behavior and academics. This program is designed to work with any grade level and school team sport. The Attitudes for Athletes program works with school sports programs to provide these student athletes with sportsmanship on and off the field, leadership skills, conflict resolutions, social skills, time management, and academic advisement.

San Tan Foothills High School in San Tan Valley, Arizona is the first school to offer this program. The Nelson C Lathan Counseling Center will be working with the San Tan Foothills High School boys varsity basketball team for the 2014 - 2015 school year. These student athletes will learn what it means to be a leader on the school campus and in the classroom. This program will expose these student athletes that education is just as if not more important than their particular sport that they play. Sport Mentors will work with their respective coaches to help these student athletes with academic success and be socially responsible, as well as speak with other athletes.
